EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY
The LRA believes strong communities are built by resilient families that demand exceptional educational systems. LRA supports robust educational systems with multiple options tailored to individual student need in every community.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORMS
Our organization is committed to implementing policies that correct flaws in our criminal justice system with the end goal of lowering recidivism and ensuring those who have made unfortunate mistakes have educational and rehabilitative opportunities. While the LRA supports law enforcement and believes in the American justice system, we realize that no system is perfect and that improvements should be made.
We believe in low, but fair levels of taxation. Government at all levels should be fiscally responsible with public dollars to ensure revenues are spent in ways that uplift neglected communities. We will work to encourage our elected leaders to control government spending, reduce waste and look to the people for input when introducing tax increases.
We believe in upholding the United States Constitution, which has built the best government and economy the world has ever known. We are committed to supporting and defending the inalienable rights guaranteed to us by the Constitution.
Our belief is that positive community policing keeps us all safe. We will champion reforms to improve police-community relations through thoughtful accountability measures, new training, and ongoing community and youth engagement that reduces implicit bias at all levels.
HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS
We believe solving the homelessness crisis in California requires accountability and programs that address housing, mental health, drug treatment, and career guidance in order to achieve sustainable solutions. Solving the housing crisis will depend on thoughtful measures to reduce barriers that disincentive developers from constructing new, affordable homes in communities that need it most.
